Teaching Volunteer Projects

Take this fantastic opportunity to interact with and make a real difference to the lives of children orphaned by AIDS within this vibrant Zulu community. Volunteers will have the chance not only to become intimately involved in the day to day lives of these orphans but to make a lasting difference to the community with development and HIV/AIDS education work. Home for the duration of the project will be St Lucia, heart of the energetic Zulu community. St Lucia is set in one of the most diverse areas on the planet where five separate ecosystems make this a truly unique region; in 1999 the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park was honored to be declared a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site.

This project is based in a rural community near Fishhoek/Simonstown on the outskirts of Cape Town. Volunteers will become involved in pre-school and possibly primary school education as well as a number of community development initiatives. The classrooms are ill equiped but the children are very enthusiastic with a real desire to learn. A wonderful opportunity to work with young disadvantaged children and help on valuable programmes that will benfit the community for years to come.

Although Zanzibar is a beautiful tropical paradise, its local communities are badly affected by poverty, lack of education and training and unemployment.  By getting involved in local nursery, primary and secondary school education, tourism training schools and environmental programmes to help the local communities, volunteers have many opportunities to make a real impact on the lives of the people affected by these problems.

Situated in the vibrant town of Livingstone, this project - just a stone's throw from the world famous Victoria Falls, allows volunteers make a real difference to the lives of the deprived but very enthusiastic children.  Volunteers will help teach in the ill-equipped classrooms at six schools in the town - keeping the local children off the streets and helping them to have a more positive future.  Volunteers will also be involved in some very worthwhile community development projects including the Elephant Pepper Project, Home Based Care Group and building and painting classrooms.
